Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Riddled with bugs and problems - DO NOT BUY Comment: I just picked this up since it was only 40 dollars and I must say that even at 40 dollars I feel cheated. There is a huge list of bugs and issues with this version that I cannot stress to stay away from. First of all the amount of bugs is intolerable. Mixing effects and transitions is virtually impossible. Slowing down a clip to half speed only changes the clip out with another clip. The product will NOT upload videos to YouTube and the picture quality is no where near what HD is. This may be an easy and cheap solution, but the frustration and hair loss is not worth it. Secondly there is no support. The help with this program is just a huge circle that solves nothing and answers even less. While it is easy to use there are better alternatives out there to this program. I would recommend Sony Vegas or even some higher end video editing software like Final Cut Pro. Even Windows Movie Maker leaves this program in the dust. If you need something cheap use that until you can save up enough money to purchase better offerings. Thirdly is that they price gauge you. They give you a substandard product that does what Windows Movie Maker at the basic does and then offers you to upgrade each portion for around $99.99. The truth is that this is a substandard product and Pinnacle should be ashamed at their work here. Just remember, it may be 38.95 but you get what you pay for. Customer Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware Comment: I purchased Pinnacle version 12 because I was satisfied with the trial version, don't be fooled as I was. After several hours and numerous installs and uninstalls I finally gave up. This is a good definition for bait and switch, and I will not ever try pinnacle products again. The customer support is weak, having me try things I had already tried.I will be trying to get my money back through amazon.com or my credit card company. I also discovered too late that the code keys expire after two years and in order to get it to work you must repurchase, not an ethical way to treat customers. I would give it zero stars if that option was available. Customer Rating: Summary: Can't recommend... Comment: I can't recommend Pinnacle Studio 12. I installed this on one of my PC's running Vista Home Premium (32 bit) that had a high-end Radeon HD video card, well past the minimum specs listed, but it just doesn't work well for me at all. It's not a beastly PC, but I can run most games at a fairly good clip, but this software often freezes and hangs and when it does work well enough for me to get a DVD out of it, that DVD has sound drops and sync issues. Rendering is painfully slow (it might be done once you're done sleeping) and some features (menus for instance) just don't work on the actual disk the way they are set-up in program. I'm trying to be fair here, so in its defense, installation went reasonably smoothly and the program setup was more intuitive than I was expecting it to be, but that's really not much to go on when I simply can't use the program to do what it's designed to do. I guess it did come with the cool greenscreen backdrop. That was a surprise and sadly about the only useful thing in the box. It might be more useful with a more powerful PC, though I doubt it from some of the other feedback I've read. Customer Rating: Summary: WHY WOULD YOU BUY TONS OF PROBLEMS Comment: I started with Pinnacle 8 Studio, which had a terrible memory management, such as: program is ending abrupt, music is gone or titles.... all because of software problems. Because I needed something to make videos, I later bought version 10, thinking that Pinnacle has fixed the memory problem in the meantime. Not at all, actually I could not find out why I paid another 140 bucks for this crap. Because of version 10, I needed to fix my computer twice and than went back to version 8. OK here is the thing, if you have a video is probably 2 or 3 minutes, it might work. I needed the video with titles, photos with transition and music for about 10 to 12 minutes. Just forget it, don't even consider to look at it. Pinnacle has good ideas and has all the features you need, that's why you are enthusiastic, but still, the program is technically absolutely incapable. It's also not possible to burn a DVD in high quality without any mistakes or even have a break up while burning. On top, Pinnacle software screwed up my computer twice. If you can't fix your computer by yourself, Pinnacle is the sudden death of your PC. Hands off folks, look elsewhere. Customer Rating: Summary: Good but not perfect Comment: I have used Studio 12 Ultimate to produce videos for two theater performances. I mixed multiple camera angles and audio sources. The software is powerful with many special effects and features. It allows two video and four audio tracks to be mixed easily. The projects that I produced used HD AVCHD files as the input and I was able to produce both DVD and Blu Ray disks. However on the DVD copies, there were numerous places that the sound inexplicable dropped out. This would happen several times in an hour. If the DVD was played in a PC the sound was solid, the only problem was with DVD players. I tried many different approaches to eliminate this including mixing the sound to a wav file and using that as my single sound feed but nothing worked. After Christmas I purchased Studio 14 and have tried re-rendering the problematic projects from 12 and the problem is gone. Apparently there's a problem with 12 that hasn't been resolved but is corrected in 14. I wrote the tech support, told them of my experience and if they intended to put out a patch for Studio 12 and got this reply: "So the issue has been resolved in Studio 14. Regarding your question about a patch for Studio 12, the only patch available is Studio 12.1. We do not have full information if a patch will still be created on this version. " Not exactly helpful customer service. So my advice is that if you're going to use a HD source and burn to DVD, get version 14 or another product. More Reviews
