Editorial Reviews: Capture Every Moment of the Action. Preserving every special memory is easy, thanks to the extended battery life and built-in memory of the SMX-F43 and SMX-F44. The camcorders provide users with over 4 hours and 10 minutes of battery life on a single charge. Impressive Video Quality. The F Series offers an incredible 65x Intelli-Zoom lens (52x optical zoom), which allows users to bring distant images into focus and zoom closer to the action from further away. Samsung’s Intelli-Zoom is significantly more reliable than a standard digital zoom, allowing users to go beyond the camcorders' 52x optical zooms without sacrificing image quality. The F-Series camcorders also provide enhanced image quality, thanks to their high-performance oversized 1/6-Inch CCD sensors. Smart Features for Shooting, Editing, and Sharing. The SMX-F40 and SMX-F44 come equipped with Samsung's play-edit-sharing program called intelli studio 2.0. The on-board intelli-studio software provides unprecedented freedom and flexibility, allowing users to view, edit and upload content to the web from any PC anywhere in the world. Connecting to a computer via the supplied USB cable not only enables users to edit and play a video without having to install supporting software, but also automatically charges the camcorder as well. The built-in intelli-studio software also helps simplify the way users upload and share their footage using today's popular video sharing and social networking web sites. Samsung also enhances the video recording experience for end-users thanks to unique features such as time lapse recording and animated thumbnails. Time lapse recording allows users to program the camcorder to record at a pre-set interval of one image every one, three, five, 10, 15 or 30 seconds.

Summary: Picture quality is not very good
Comment: I bought this camera for the price but have returned it because of the poor picture quality and the broken lens cover. I have kids in sports so I took it along to test it out on action shots. I used a 16GB Class 4 SDHC card. The results were poor. I took shots of the pitchers to evaluate their technique. The video pixelated during any fast motion. I then purchased a 16 GB Class 10 hoping the extra speed would help. It did slightly but the video was still grainy and not very clear. The camera design was awkward too. In order to charge the battery, you need to flip open the video screen to plug in the power cord.

I have since gone with the Canon HF300 which was $50 more but the video quality is pretty good and the overall camera design was better.

Summary: JUNK DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT...
Comment: Video is very grainy at the highest setting, still images look just as bad.
My suggestion if you can't afford to buy a high priced camcorder, get a digital camera.
The video on my cell phone looks better than this thing.

    Summary: I'm in Love!
Comment: Pros: This is a well thought out, super lightweight, comfortable camera with 8 gigs of built in internal storage. The battery it comes with will record around 4 hours of footage on one charge. The built in video editing software is really all you'll ever need for the average user. It seems to handle low light situations without much issue. It's a fun simple camera that will totally get the job done for anyone who chooses to obtain one. No tapes. No hard drives. No long sketchy conversion process to get the video on your PC. It's really just a kick butt device designed for todays digital age. Built in video editing software comes with youtube, flickr and facebook integration so you can easily upload your videos and pics to the web.

Cons: The photo mode is completely worthless and my Olympus from 10 years ago does a better job. But then, I didn't purchase this for it's still photo capability. The lens cap is manually toggled by flipping a switch on the side of the camera which I'm just not used to yet. I find that I keep leaving the lens exposed because this isn't an automatic thing. Doesn't come with anything extra. No bag, no extra battery, nothing. Replacement batteries are unavailable online so far. The microphone is super sensative and will easily pick up your breathing if you aren't concious about it.

Other thoughs: The build of the camera feels flimsy to me but time will tell. It's just so light. This camera is easily accomplishing everything I need it to do and I am very happy with it.
