Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Not the review I wanted to write Comment: So as some of you may have heard/noticed, Corel screwed up and screwed up badly. They sent out packs of this software that include two copies of the video editing program and no copies of the photo editing program. Well done, Corel, well done. I'll get to that boondogle in a bit. For now, let's talk about the video editing software. Somewhat to my surprise, I really liked it! It was fairly simple and intuitive and within two hours I'd managed to cobble together two vacation photo videos, with soundtracks, and post them onto YouTube. That was without any training and without reading the instructions. Not bad, really. Since then I've tinkered and tampered a bit and I must say, it's a really good program. A solid five-stars for the video editing software, so if that's all you want, it's worth getting (though you can probably find the same product outside this so-called bundle). Now for the bad part; the picture editing software. I'm astonished Corel made this sort of mistake. But these things do happen, so I emailed them, explained that I'm with Vine and that my copy was missing the photo disc. I fully expected them to rush out a copy to me without any problems. Fool that I was. Instead what they wanted me to do was to call them and chat about it. Frankly, I have zero interest in this. First off, I'm on a cell phone, and don't want to burn minutes waiting on hold. Second, no. It's not convenient for me as a customer. I've told them the problem. I've registered my program, so they know I have a copy of the video editing stuff at least, but they don't trust me. So tough for them. I really didn't want to write this review. I wanted to write a nice, pleasant review about both products and my experience dealing with Corel's customer service. Sadly, that review is not going to happen. I'm disappointed. Comment: That said, since other Vine reviewers are having the same issues I am I'll jump in and put in my two cents instead of quietly asking Vine to remove this product from my to review list. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try this product, but like others, instead of an installation CD for Photos and one for Video, I received two video CD's. The nice folks at Amazon Vine couldn't help as they had nothing to replace it with and suggested contacting Corel. I got as far as looking for an email contact and I would have had to register for an account - no thanks. There was a phone # for technical help with a fee per incident charge - no thanks. Tried the live chat option and it wasn't available. I was going to try the 800 # during normal business hours, but from looking at some other reviewers I'd be pretty much spinning my heels as well with no luck so I decided to pass and just offer my two cents on the product I received. Like others, the software took a long time to load (I went to bed and let it finish). Once installed, the program is very slow to load (granted, I have an older PC but I see others with newer PC's are having the same issues). The program itself has all kinds of cool gadgets to enhance your videos, but between the slowness of the program, no freaking manual to tell me how to use some of these tools I'm calling this all a serious waste of time - I'll stick with the software that came with my flip video. I have used other Corel programs in the past that came pre-installed on the PC and have to say compared to the Microsoft compatible product (word, spreadsheet, etc.) they're a sorry runner up. As for keeping the video software? Well since the PC's been slower than molasses since I've installed it, my plans are removing it sometime in the very near future. Not recommended. Customer Rating: Summary: Horrible Comment: It's hard to review a product if you don't recieve the entire product. That's what happened to me and seemingly every other viner in program: when requesting Corel's Photo and Video Pro X3 Bundle, we received the box, as advertised, but for some reason that make absolutely no sense, the box had 2 copies of the VideoStudio software and was missing the Photo software. Oddly enough the box had copies of both instruction manuals, but no PhotoStudio disc. As a marketing professional with a personal PC (Mac at work), I'm more open than many others in my field to non-Adobe products. I'm willing to try them out, as I was hoping to do here, but well, that obviously didn't happen. So, it looks like I'm just going to stick with Photoshop. Now, I did attempt the video software, but it crashed almost instantly. Heck, my computer is just shy of a year old and has Windows 7 and it crashed. Maybe this software just doesn't play nicely with Windows 7? No idea, but I was already so upset by getting shafted out of the PhotoStudio software that I didn't want to bother with giving it another try. Basically, the majority of the reviews here are correct: don't bother with this piece of crap. Just get Adobe and get on with life. Customer Rating: Summary: Corel Photo & Video Pro Bundle is Poo Comment: I was very pleased to see that this bundle was being offered to Vine members to review. I knew I could make good use out of this fast! The same day I received it I installed the first disc with no issues. I grabbed the second disc which looked identical to the first but the packaging sleeve was different & it clearly stated it was the PaintShop Photo Pro disc & the serial numbers were provided. Upon installing this disc I was asked if I was sure I wanted to uninstall Corel Video Studio. I was confused & figured I'd put in the wrong disc seeing how they looked the same. So after trying each disc two times I came to the conclusion that I got a bum bundle with two of the IDENTICAL discs. No biggie really says I, I have been given a friendly little letter thanking me for taking the time to review the product & if I have any problems call this man at this number at this extension. So I do this. I try for almost TWO weeks! I NEVER speak to a human. I leave voice mail messages leaving my email AND my phone number. I even tried called the regular Corel customer service number. For this, you can be charged a $15 service fee! Imagine that! You need installation help for example & you have to dish out $15 more! Needless to say calling the regular customer service number got me nowhere. I have wasted enough time & am totally disgusted with this company. I don't understand how they can treat anyone this way let alone people they know are flat our reviewing their products! If I had paid for this I would be enraged. As it is, I am pissed at all the time I have wasted. I never used the Video part of the bundle & I am uninstalling it after this review. Hopefully I am able to uninstall it without issues. I noticed other reviewers mention that they had there computers freeze when they opened the program. I am so NOT going there! I don't even want to take the risk. So bye by corel you suck! Customer Rating: Summary: Photo & Video Bundle Comment: I couldn't wait to get my hands on this new Corel Bundel. I edit my photos a lot and wanted to see what a professional editing software could do for me. The installation process was somewhat lengthy and I noticed that my computer slowed down a bit after the bundle was fully installed. However, I didn't experience any of the freeze ups that other users complained about. The photo-editing tools were not that different from other programs but I do like the KPT plug-in filter function as well as the smart carver tool. The software also offers a quick sharing option that allows the user to send their pictures and videos directly to Flickr, Facebook and Youtube. The video component of this program is somewhat useful as it allows you to make movies out of your videos, edit them and create DVD's. Overall, I was more impressed with the photo editing tool and I will definitely continue to use it. More Reviews
